October Event
« on: October 08, 2012, 02:24:47 PM »
Due to a mix up on behalf of the State Parks and Rec in South Carolina, our event for this weekend was double booked. We had 2 options, reschedule for next weekend or host this weekend at Cheraw State Park. We opted for Cheraw. If everyone can pass the word along to everyone else, we would appreciate it. Everything stays the same except for the location. Any questions you might have feel free to call me anytime or call Steve after 9:30 tonight. Again we apologize for any inconvenience this bring to you all. My number is 336-207-7043. Thank you.

Letting everyone know Tavern is still right on track! No change needed for food.

Maybe a staff member could post the address of the camp or a website to make sure we have the correct information so that we can decide if we can still attend or not.

Thanks!

Cheraw State Park information:

State Park Website for Cheraw:
http://southcarolinaparks.com/cheraw/introduction.aspx

Map of Cheraw State Park:
http://southcarolinaparks.com/files/State%20Parks%20Files/Cheraw/MapCheraw.pdf
We will be either in Camp Juniper or Camp Forest.

Google Map coordinates:
https://local.google.com/maps?q=34.643779,-79.890205&num=1&t=w&z=19&iwloc=near

Cheraw State Park has two entrances.  The group campsites have a different entrance from the main park entrance.  The link above to google shows the group site entrance.  This will be a dirt/sand road so it will be obvious if you are at the wrong entrance.

Camp Juniper and Camp Forest pictures. I believe Nero has used Juniper in the past.

Thanks for the info. We will be there.

A question though. I am looking at the Google map coordinates and there doesn't seem to be any cabins in that area and the coordinates for Cheraw State Park are different than shown above. Is the event down that unnamed road on the east side of Lake Juniper where the coordinates shown above are?

There are cabins.  They are just tough to see through the trees.
Yes, it is the unnamed road east of Lake Juniper.

It has been several years since I have been to this site, but I think the cabins hold up to 8 and have bunk beds.

Fingers crossed for camp juniper.
The cabins do have bunk beds and I think they do sleep roughly 8.  I don't recall them having power though.

Sad I was really looking forward to this event. But I refuse to go to this site.  I will be happy to allow my monies to roll over to and event at a real site, if that is easier for staff.

Hi everyone. I'm finally back from work. Kevin at King's mtn dropped this on me as I was driving to Winston to work. I still don't understand how they messed it up. I called last week just to make sure everything was good and he gave me the gate codes and said all was well. It seems my signed contract and payment receipt aren't worth much. The horse group apparently had booked it a week or so earlier than I did, even though I booked it over 2 months ago.
Anyways, enough of me venting. Sorry Frog, Cheraw was not my first choice either. But it was this or cancel until next March.

As I remember it, the cabins have electricity, but the only outlet is up at the light bulb. But I think an extension cord fixes that. I still wouldn't plug in a hair dryer or heater, but an electric blanket should do fine.

I will post more tomorrow and answer questions then after I have had a chance to get more info from the park ranger at Cheraw.

Thank you everyone for being understanding. We will still have a blast ---- Same Bat Time, ---- different Bat Channel....  lol

Let's hope for Camp Forest.  At least it has real bathroom facilities.

Kaeleigh, I thought Juniper was the much nicer site.  Are you sure Forest is better??
